U.S. Troop Readiness, Veterans' Care, Katrina Recovery, and Iraq Accountability Appropriations Act of 2007

The U.S. Troop Readiness, Veterans' Care, Katrina Recovery, and Iraq Accountability Appropriations Act of 2007 was an enormous, emergency omnibus bill costing approximately 120 billion that provided key appropriations for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and many other items including:

  • Appropriations for the wars and other defense spending 
  • Nuclear nonproliferation and Energy
  • Emergency response for Hurricane Katrina
  • Drug enforcement
  • Department of State
  • A variety of agriculture appropriations
  • Department of the Interior

Other key parts of the bill were to incrementally change the federal minimum wage from $5.15 to the present $7.25 minimum wage by 2009 and give tax breaks to small businesses.
