Representative has two related definitions:
1) One who represents another. This could be as a political representative, for example a member of the House of Representatives. It could also be one who serves as one’s agent. It could also refer an attorney representing a client in litigation.
2) In certain jurisdictions, a representative may refer to an individual who acts as an estate executor—i.e. an individual charged with managing and distributing decedent’s assets. For example, Wisconsin statute Chapter 857 lays out the “power and duties of personal representatives.”
