reports

Primary tabs

Reports are published volumes of federal, state, or regional court proceedings and judicial decisions. Also referred to as advance sheets, and the volumes are referred to as reporters. Examples include North Western Reporter and Supreme Court Reporter. Reports may be official or unofficial. Official reporters are governmentally approved reproductions of case documents, while unofficial reporters are published through private commercial publishers. One of the most used unofficial reporters are the West Regional Reporters. These produce volumes of unofficial reports of state appellate and supreme court decisions based on the volume’s designated region. For example, the North Western Reporter records the cases of Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska.
