month-to-month

Primary tabs

Month-to-month means a renewable term of one month. The term “month-to-month” is  normally used in the context of tenancies and it refers to a tenancy in which the tenant pays monthly rent and there is no fixed-term lease. In such an arrangement, the tenancy can be terminated by either the landlord or the tenant at any time, normally with a thirty-days advance notice and subject to any other state laws.

This case from the District of Columbia, explains that “in tenancies from month-to-month each month is regarded as a new periodic tenancy, or as a tenancy for a month certain plus as expectancy or possibility of continuation for one or more similar periods.”
