jurat

Primary tabs

Jurat is Latin for β€œto swear.” A jurat is a certificate attached to an affidavit or deposition to signify that the affidavit or deposition was properly made before a duly authorized officer. A jurat usually says "Subscribed and sworn to before me this ___ day of [month], [year],” followed by the signature and title of the officer.

Note that a jurat is not part of the affidavit or deposition itself.
