Cotenancy is the simultaneous title or interest of more than one person in the same property. Wisconsin state has a statute which classifies cotenancy. WI Stat § 700.18 (2019) determines cotenancy as two or more persons named as owners in a document of title, transferees in an instrument of transfer or buyers in a bill of sale are tenants in common. One of the example of cotenancy is a joint rental agreement executed by 2 or more tenants to share an apartment. (See also: cotenantstenancy in commonjoint tenancytenancy by the entirety).
