Confrontation is when the defendant faces the witness and cross-examines them to object to the testimony in a criminal proceeding. The right to confrontation is granted by the Sixth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which provides that “in all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right…to be confronted with the witnesses against him.” See: Right to confront witness
