Commercial Email and Spam:
Colorado's Spam Reduction Act of 2008 makes it a deceptive trade practice to send certain spam emails. This Act is codified at Colorado Revised Statutes Title 6, Article 1, Part 7 (§ 6-1-702.5).
Note: Colorado's Junk Email Law (once codified at Colorado Revised Statutes Title 6, Article 2.5) was repealed in 2008 (Colorado Laws of 2008, Chapter 172, § 3).
Telemarketing and Telephonic Anti-Solicitation:
Colorado's Prevention of Telemarketing Fraud Act of 1993 - codified at Colorado Revised Statutes Title 6, Article 1, Part 3 (§§ 6-1-301 - 6-1-305) - requires telemarketers to register with the Colorado Attorney General, and places legal limits on telemarketing practices.
Colorado implemented a "Do Not Call" Registry system in 2001 through the Colorado No-Call List Act. This Act is codified at Colorado Revised Statutes Title 6, Article 1, Part 9 (§§ 6-1-901 - 6-1-908).
Colorado's Charitable Solicitations Act of 1988 places legal limits on telephonic solicitations by charitable organizations. This Act is codified at Colorado Revised Statutes Title 6, Article 16 (§§ 6-16-101 - 6-16-114).
Faxes, Texts, and Other Media Anti-Solicitation:
Colorado has made it a deceptive trade practice to send unsolicited advertisements via fax machines - see Colorado Revised Statutes Title 6, Article 1, Part 7 (§ 6-1-702).
Unlawful Trade Practices:
Colorado has defined "deceptive trade practices" prohibited by the Consumer Protection Act to include violations of the prohibitions against spam emails and faxes (Colorado Revised Statutes Title 6, Article 1, Part 1 (§ 6-1-105(cc)) and unlawful telemarketing (Colorado Revised Statutes Title 6, Article 1, Part 1 (§§ 6-1-105(ww)).
Pornography:
Colorado has made it a crime to use telephonic or electronic means to send "obscene" communications - see Colorado Revised Statutes Title 18, Article 9, Part 1 (§ 18-9-111).
Computer-related Crime:
Colorado has made it a crime to use telephonic or electronic means to harass or threaten another person - see Colorado Revised Statutes Title 18, Article 9, Part 1 (§ 18-9-111).
