Editorial Board 2008-2009

Hana Bae

Hana is a J.D. candidate for the class of 2009 at Cornell Law School. During the summer of 2007, Hana was a summer law clerk with Clifford Chance US LLP in New York. At Cornell Law, Hana has been involved in the Journal of Law and Public Policy, the Public Interest Law Union, the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association, and the Business Law Society. Hana also volunteers at the VITA tax clinic in Ithaca. She is a University of Michigan alum.

Lauren Buechner

Lauren is a J.D. candidate in the class of 2009. She graduated from Rice University in 2002. Between college and law school, Lauren worked in the U.S. Attorney’s office in Philadelphia, PA, ran a pet-sitting business, and spent two years working as a paralegal in the Comcast Cable legal department. During the summer of 2007, she worked as a research assistant for Professor Ursula Weigold and interned with the Montgomery County, PA, Solicitor’s office. In the summer of 2008, Lauren worked as a summer associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP in Philadelphia, PA.

Allison Condon

Allison is a J.D. candidate for the Class of 2009 at Cornell Law School. She graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University in 2006, with a double major in English and Psychology.  During her time as an undergraduate, Allison worked for Cornell's Residential Child Care Project, researching child fatalities due to restraints in institutionalized settings. During her first year of law school, Allison represented the Law School on Cornell's Graduate and Professional Student Assembly Council of Representatives.  Allison spent the summer of 2007 working for the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services General Counsel and the summer of 2008 working for Brown Rudnick LLP in Boston. 

Carrie Evans

Carrie is a JD candidate for the class of 2009 and a Managing Editor for the LII.  A native of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, she spent the summer of 2007 interning for the Honorable Lawrence F. Stengel at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.  During the summer of 2008, she worked for the Community Federal Defender in Philadelphia.  In 2005, Carrie graduated magna cum laude from Middlebury College with a BA in political science.  She then spent a year in Manhattan, working as a paralegal and investigative analyst at the New York County District Attorney's Office in Manhattan.  During her first year at Cornell, she was a 1L representative for the Public Interest Law Union and served as Vice-President during her second year.  She has also participated in Cornell's Public Interest and Capital Punishment Clinics.

Joe Hashmall

Joe is a J.D. candidate in the Class of 2009 at Cornell Law School. During the summer of 2008, Joe worked as an intern for Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, and, in the summer of 2007, for Texas RioGrande Legal Aide. Joe received a B.A. in Political Science in 2006 from Grinnell College. Joe has also worked as a research intern for a US Senate campaign and a member of the UK House of Commons.

Courtney Zanocco

Courtney is a J.D. candidate for the Class of 2009 at Cornell Law School.  She spent the summer of 2007 as a legal intern for the Pro Se Office of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.  Prior to attending law school, Courtney was a consultant at Deloitte Consulting LLP in Chicago, Illinois, working on projects involving leadership change, training and communications for Fortune 500 companies.  Courtney graduated from Northwestern University with a B.S. in Education and Social Policy.

Courtney Bennigson

Courtney is a J.D. candidate for the class of 2010 at Cornell Law School. A native of Boston, she graduated magna cum laude from Williams College in 2001 with a major in Psychology. She then spent several years as a full-time professional athlete. Based in Colorado and racing around the world, Courtney earned an Olympic Trials berth and a Pro National Championship title before retiring in 2005 due to injury. Happy to return to more intellectual pursuits, she hopes to combine her legal training and her interests in social psychology and foreign languages, practicing conflict resolution in the international community.

Brian Chung

Brian is a J.D. candidate for the class of 2010 at Cornell Law School.  During the summer before his second year, Brian interned with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC).  There, he assisted the SEC staff in performing examinations of broker-dealers.  Prior to law school, Brian also worked as an Investment Banking Analyst with Merrill Lynch’s Energy & Power Group.  Brian earned his B.S. degree in 2003 from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business. 

Conrad Daly

Conrad is a J.D. candidate for the Class of 2010 at Cornell Law School. During his first year at Cornell, he was 1L Representative to the Cornell Law Student Association, 1L Representative and team captain for the Cornell Soccer Team ("The Gavels"), and participated in both the Fasken-Martineau International Law Moot Court Team and in the Langfan Fist-Year Moot Court Competition. He is presently Co-President of the Thomas More Society. Fluent in French, he participated in the Cornell Summer Institute in Paris at Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne during the summer of 2008. Conrad is a graduate of Boston College, where he double-majored in biochemistry and history and minored in Irish Studies, and of Heythrop College, University of London, where he read for a Master of Theology in Systematic Theology. He also spent nearly three years working on with the *Southern Medical Journal*, where he finished as the Editor for the Spirituality/Medicine Interface Project. He enjoys traveling, cooking, hiking and camping, and drawing, reading and writing.

Evan Ennis

Evan Ennis is a J.D. candidate for the Class of 2010 at Cornell Law School. She spent the summer of 2008 working at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York. Prior to attending Cornell Law School, she worked as a paralegal in the Early Case Assessment Bureau of the New York County District Attorney’s Office in Manhattan. She graduated magna cum laude from New York University in 2006, with a double major in English and Politics.

Katherine Hansen

Katy is a J.D. candidate for the class of 2010 at Cornell Law School. During the summer of 2008, she worked as a Peggy Browning Fellow with Change to Win in Washington D.C. Katy is currently President of Cornell’s Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild and is a 2L representative for Cornell Law Students for Reproductive Justice. Prior to law school, Katy worked for five years as a union representative for the Service Employees International Union and spent a year in South Africa volunteering for Lawyers for Human Rights. She is an Oberlin College alum.

Zsaleh Harivandi

Zsaleh Harivandi is a J.D. candidate for the class of 2010 at Cornell Law School. She spent the summer of 2008 as a research assistant to Professor Stephen Yale-Loehr, updating his immigration law treatise. During her first year of law school, Zsaleh was involved with the National Lawyers Guild and currently serves as its secretary. Zsaleh graduated from Swarthmore College in 2007, with a B.A. in economics and a minor in peace and conflict studies.

Lauren Jones

Lauren is a J.D. candidate for the Class of 2010 at Cornell Law School. She is Treasurer and a founding member of Cornell Law Students for Reproductive Justice. She spent the summer of 2008 as a summer associate at Greenberg Traurig, LLP, in Boston, Massachusetts. In 2007, Lauren graduated cum laude from Harvard College with a B.A. in Social Studies and a language citation in Italian. At Harvard, she co-chaired the Eliot House Committee and An Evening with Champions, a figure skating benefit for the Jimmy Fund and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Lara Haddad

Lara Haddad is a candidate for the J.D. and LL.M. in International and Comparative Law for the class of 2010.  Lara graduated with a B.A. in History from UC Berkeley in 2005, and earned a Master’s Degree in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Cambridge in 2006.  Before law school, she worked for the American Civil Liberties Union and taught language classes at night.  During her first year of law school, she was a 1L representative for the Briggs International Law Society and currently serves as its president.  She spent the summer of 2008 interning at the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice.  She also studied in China as part of the Cornell Summer Law Institute at Soochow University.

William Kennedy

Bill is a J.D. candidate for the class of 2010 at Cornell Law School and the Treasurer of the Environmental Law Society. He spent the summer of 2008 interning for the Tompkins/Tioga County Neighborhood Legal Services. Bill has an interest in environmental law, literature, and philosophy. He is a 2007 graduate of Fairfield University, where he studied Political Science, Philosophy, English, and graduated magna cum laude. Bill enjoys hiking, biking, and camping in his spare time.

Sun Kim

Sun is a J.D. candidate for the class of 2010 at Cornell Law School. She was born in Seoul, Korea, and grew up in North Carolina, where she got her B.A. in political science at the University of North Carolina. Prior to attending law school, she interned at the International Affairs Council in Raleigh, and taught English in Seoul. During the summer of 2008, she was a research assistant for Cornell Law School Dean Stewart Schwab before participating in the Paris Summer Institute program.

Tom Kurland

Tom is a J.D. candidate in the class of 2010 at Cornell Law School. In the summer of 2008, Tom interned in the Appeals Bureau at the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office in his hometown of Rochester, NY, where he authored numerous appellate briefs on a variety of criminal matters. Before coming to law school, Tom worked as the Director of Communications for White Dog Enterprises in Philadelphia, a national leader in the sustainable business movement. Tom attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he received a B.A. in History, cum laude, in 2005. While at Penn, Tom was a member of Mask & Wig, the nation’s oldest all-male musical comedy troupe.

Gary Liao

Gary is a J.D. candidate for the class of 2010 at Cornell Law School. During the summer of 2008, Gary worked as a research assistant for Professor Faust Rossi. He received a B.A. in Comparative Area Studies in 2005 from Duke University. Prior to law school Gary worked as a consultant and taught English in Taiwan.

Isaac Lindbloom

Before coming to Cornell Law School, Isaac was a professional French horn player, performing with symphony orchestras throughout the U.S. and Canada. Aside from performing, he has worked one-on-one with people with special needs, teaching them necessary life skills, and has also taught English in Taiwan. More recently, he worked in the legal department in the Tompkins County Department of Social Services, primarily focusing on the protection of abused and neglected children. Isaac is now a J.D. candidate for the Class of 2010.

James McConnell

James is a J.D. candidate for the Class of 2010 at Cornell Law School. He spent the summer of 2008 as a summer associate at Kirkland & Ellis in New York. In 2007, James graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Hamilton College. There, he double majored in Chemistry and Mathematics, receiving Honors in both as well as induction into Sigma Xi. As an undergraduate, he conducted research in computational physical chemistry and graph theory. His legal interests include intellectual property litigation and torts.

Jennelle Menendez

Jennelle is a J.D. candidate for the Class of 2010 at Cornell Law School. She attended New York University and graduated in 2004 with a double major in Broadcast Journalism and Dramatic Literature. After graduation she worked as an assistant at the NBC Today Show and then took six months off to live, work and backpack through Australia. After making her way back to America she worked as a paralegal at the New York office of Foley & Lardner LLP, where she returned as a Summer Associate her 1L summer. In her spare time, Jennelle indulges her passion for travel. She is a published travel writer and looks forward to her upcoming trip to India in 2009.

Lucienne Pierre

Lucienne is a J.D. candidate in Cornell Law School’s Class of 2010. Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, she grew up in Brockton, Massachusetts, and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Massachusetts-Boston in 2006. She majored in English. Prior to entering law school, Lucienne worked with special education students at the Paul A. Dever Elementary School, in Dorchester, Massachusetts. Lucienne spent the summer of 2008 working in the Commerce Program of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. During her leisure time, she enjoys reading novels, writing songs on her guitar, and photography.

Joe Rancour

Joe is a J.D. candidate for the class of 2010 at Cornell Law School. Joe spent the summer of 2008 as a summer associate at Warner Norcross and Judd in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he worked in a variety of practice areas including litigation, environmental, family, securities, and real estate law. Joe is interested in corporate, environmental and real estate law. During spring of 2007, Joe traveled to New Orleans with a group of Cornell Law School students and volunteered with Southeast Louisiana Legal Services. Joe graduated with high distinction from the University of Michigan in 2007 with B.A. degrees in economics and philosophy.

Michael Selss

Michael is a J.D. candidate for the Class of 2010 at Cornell Law School. He earned his B.A. in Communication and Political Science in 2007 from the University of Delaware, where he was active as a political campaign volunteer to various candidates running for state and local office. During the summer of 2008, Michael worked for the Maryland Office of the Public Defender as a law clerk in the Montgomery County office.  He also provides legal assitance to start-up and growth-oriented businesses through participation in the Johnson School’s Big Red Legal program.

Sarah Soloveichik

Sarah is a J.D. candidate for the class of 2010 at Cornell Law School. She graduated summa cum laude from Yeshiva University with a major in Philosophy and a minor in History. During her undergraduate years, she served as editor of the arts and culture section of her college newspaper and interned for the Beth Din of America, a rabbinical court of law. She spent the summer of 2008 as a legal intern in the Appeals Bureau of the Queens County District Attorney’s Office.

Kelly Terranova

Kelly is a J.D. candidate for the class of 2010 at Cornell Law School. After graduating summa cum laude from the State University of New York College at Geneseo, Kelly spent a year working as a paralegal for a corporate immigration firm in New York City before deciding to attend law school. Kelly is certified to teach middle school and high school social studies in the state of New York and is interested in pursuing a career that allows her to combine her passions for teaching and the law.

Joe Tucci

Joseph Tucci is a J.D. candidate for the class of 2010 at Cornell Law School. During the summer of 2008, Joseph externed for the Honorable Paul B. Snyder, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge, for Justice Barbara A. Madsen of the Washington State Supreme Court, and was a summer associate with the Northwest law firm Gordon, Thomas, Honeywell. He graduated with honors from Washington State University in 2005. Prior to law school Joseph worked for a lobbyist firm based in Seattle, Washington.

Rebecca Vernon

Rebecca is a J.D. candidate in the class of 2010 at Cornell Law School. During the summer of 2008, she worked both for Professor Cynthia Bowman, researching the French Pacte civil de solidarité law, and at the International Center for Not-for-Profit Law, seeking reform of civil society laws in Algeria, Yemen, and Honduras. At Cornell, she is involved in the International Law Journal and the Women’s Law Coalition. Prior to coming to law school, Rebecca graduated cum laude from Mount Holyoke College with a degree in French and Politics. She then spent a year teaching English in French elementary schools. Rebecca’s interest in the Supreme Court began in 9th grade, when she wrote a paper on Marbury v. Madison.

Kaci White

Kaci is a J.D. candidate for the class of 2010 at Cornell Law School. She earned a B.A., summa cum laude, in American Studies with a minor in music from Boston University in 2007. After her first year of law school, Kaci was a summer associate at Mintz Levin in Boston. She enjoys learning about digital photography and is an enthusiastic Björk fan.

Katie Worthington

Katie is a J.D. candidate for the class of 2010 at Cornell Law School. Katie has an interest in legislative, criminal, and military law, and spent the Summer of 2008 interning for the U.S. Army JAG Corps in Washington, D.C. Katie has also interned for the Fox News Channel and in the U.S. Senate. She is a 2007 graduate of Rutgers University, where she studied Political Science and Biology and graduated summa cum laude in three years. Katie was a Varsity member of the Women’s Cross Country team at Rutgers, and continues to enjoy running, biking and horseback riding in her retirement.
